    POSITION PURPOSE
    As a member of the University of Washington School of Nursing's Information Technology team (UW SoN IT), you will advance healthcare in Washington State and beyond by supporting teaching and research. We are a cross-functional team that supports the success of a nationally top-rated school of nursing by innovating in areas like online learning, student engagement, and nursing simulation. We are looking for someone who is excited to deep-dive into the school's data and business process needs and turn them into modern, stable services.

    We need someone who

    • Will drive innovation by strategically focusing on data management, business needs, system implementation, and compliance in support of digital transformation initiatives in the University of Washington School of Nursing.

    • Will provide business analysis, resource assessment and acquisition, and database administration to identify needs and solutions related to the business goals and strategic priorities of the UW School of Nursing.Our business analyst must stay current with the techniques and technologies used in their field. They must also develop a deep understanding of the business of the School of Nursing so they can respond to emergent operational needs as well as identify and recommend service improvements. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with their cross-disciplined peers to provide exceptional customer service to university community members, including faculty, staff, and students with diverse technology skills and experience.DIMENSIONSThe UW SoN is one of the Nation's top-ranked nursing schools. It is a national and international leader in improving the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities through education, research, and service.This position will play a key role in supporting enhanced decision-making and strategic use of data resources within the School of Nursing related to areas of faculty activity, student enrollment, research, and digital transformation. This position provides decision-support to senior leadership on important issues, represents the SoN with internal and external affiliate institutions, and demonstrates effective business judgment. The Senior Business Analyst assures that UWSoN strategic goals related to accreditation, enrollment, research, institutional assessment, digital transformation, and other strategic initiatives are being achieved. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position is supervised by the UW SoN Director of Information Technology, who directly manages SoN Information Technology Operations and reports to the Assistant Dean of Technology, Learning, and Innovation.Analysis of needs and goals (40%)

    • The IT Business Analyst's primary focus will be on advancing projects and initiatives related to the school's IT business processes and needs.

    • Leveraging expert-level training and experience, the IT Business Analyst will consult with SoN stakeholders to analyze their Information Technology-related business processes and goals to identify solutions and improvements to IT-related problems and processes.

    • During consultations, the IT Business Analyst will use techniques such as business, needs, data, and gap analysis, and resource assessment to identify customer needs.

    • The Business Analyst will bring information learned from customer consultations back to the SoN-IT team to enhance strategic planning such as identifying and selecting potential solutions and initiating and prioritizing projects.

    • The Business Analyst must understand and stay informed about the strategic priorities of the school.

    • The Business Analyst must understand and implement all related compliance regulations and include them in their work.Connecting people to existing solutions (20%)

    • Based on needs analysis consultations with stakeholders and in consultation with SoN-IT and UW-IT service owners, the IT Business Analyst will connect SoN faculty and staff with services offered by SoN-IT and UW-IT to solve business problems and enhance their operation.

    • The Business Analyst will work closely with SoN-IT and UW-IT service owners to understand and stay up to date on their catalog of available services in order to provide timely recommendations and hand-off projects to service owners.

    • The Business Analyst will support the stakeholder's service adoption by consulting with SoN-IT and UW-IT service owners and then provide information learned during customer consultation to the service owner to aid them in appropriately configuring the service.Evaluate potential new systems and services (20%)

    • Based on gaps identified during customer consultations and under the direction of SoN-IT leadership, the IT Business Analyst will identify novel solutions, especially from outside vendors, and evaluate them for fit for use, fit for purpose, and compliance.

    • The IT Business Analyst must be familiar with and follow UW procurement procedures and policies.

    • When evaluating new or upgrades to services, the IT Business Analyst will conduct a search of competing systems and evaluate them based on fit for purpose, fit for use, impact, and cost. In some cases, this may be performed in conjunction with UW Procurement based on UW procurement policies.

    • Under the direction of SoN-IT leadership, the IT Business Analyst will work with UW Procurement, SoN-IT service owners, and SoN faculty and staff stakeholders to support the procurement process.Support upgrade and implementation of systems and services (20%)

    • In consultation with SoN faculty and staff stakeholders and systems and service vendors, the IT Business Analyst will determine and work with SoN-IT, UW-IT, and external vendor service owners to implement appropriate configurations that meet SoN business and compliance requirements.

    • The IT Business Analyst will provide business needs, data, gap analysis, and resource assessment in support of system and service upgrades and implementations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.

    • Minimum of two-three years of data analysis work experience.

    • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • A demonstrated commitment to supportive and effective collaboration.

    • Experience in using data, insights, and analysis to generate strategic solutions that enhance organizational decision-making and achieve strategic goals.

    • Ability to work independently with a high degree of integrity, reliability, accuracy, and productivity.

    • Demonstrated proficiency in technology project planning and coordination. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience working with UW student data.

    • Experience working with UW personnel & financial data.

    • Expertise in SQL databases and programming.

    • Experience designing databases and data models.

    • Experience standardizing IT best practices.

    • Experience working with UW budgets and procurement.

    • Experience with project management.

    • Experience working with large datasets, including importing, exporting, cleaning, mapping to existing data models, and processing into new data models.

    • Salesforce or Interfolio experience.SUPERVISION

    • This position is supervised by the Director of Information Technology.
