  • Objective of Position :

    The Tax Accounting Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the corporate tax strategy and managing the organizations' tax income tax reporting function. This role is responsible for tax planning, reporting, and compliance. The Tax Accounting Manager oversees the preparation of federal, state and local corporate tax returns, accounting for income taxes, researching federal and state tax matters, and supporting and identifying tax planning and process improvements, in alignment with the Company's vison and values.

    Duties and Responsibilities :

    • Develops and implements tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance with tax law and regulations.

    • Establishes policies, procedures, strategic planning, and procedural changes within the organization.

    • Monitors legislative and regulatory tax law developments, assessing their impact on the organization, while identifying and mitigating tax risks, and developing/maintaining documentation.

    • Communicates the effects of legislative and regulatory tax law developments to management and the tax team and creates strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.

    • Manages and coordinates federal and state income tax audits.

    • Reviews the estimated federal and state income tax payments.

    • Oversees work papers for various book to tax differences.

    • Leads quarter-end and year-end accrual review and the tax provision.

    • Maintains effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.

    • Provides support with various internal audits and special income tax related projects.

    • Reviews tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.

    • Mentors less experienced members of tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement.

    • Manages other tax filings: Annual reports, Intangible Tax, Sales and Use Tax.

    • Ensures the record systems and procedures are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirement.

    • Leads the implications of business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and investments on taxes.

    • Keeps abreast of current developments in the tax area.

    • Provides advice and consultation on tax matters to senior management.

    • Leads financial planning and analysis.

    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications :

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or CPA, EA, CMA is preferred.

    • 5+ years' experience in tax accounting, consulting, or management is preferred.

    • Knowledge of corporate income tax matters.

    • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as, internal controls, procedures, and standards.

    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local income, use and sales tax concepts, practices, and procedures for multiple entities in multiple jurisdictions.

    • Ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

    • Ability to analyze and solve problems using learned techniques and tools.

    • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software required.

    • Ability to work independently and with teams; pro-activeness in identifying challenges and finding solutions.

    • Strong organizational skills with an acute attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment while meeting deadlines.

    • Decision making and critical thinking skills including analysis and documentation/summarization of the chosen solutions.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

    The salary range for this position is $100,900 to $126,200. We want to emphasize that the salary range is flexible and there is an opportunity to review the salary expectations based on a candidate's background, skills and experience. The ultimate salary offered will be based specifically on our assessment of our candidate's overall qualifications.
