Sr. Software Engineer

Job Description

An employer is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity in the Ft. Wright, KY area. This engineer will be joining a GNSS (global navigation satellite systems) company that designs, manufactures, and sells high-precision, geospatial, survey and monitoring products for demanding applications world-wide. The company has HQ in San Jose, CA, but has expanded to the Cincinnati are and is now ready to extend further in surveying, monitoring and other mission critical applications. The current team is looking to expand from 6 engineers to 30 by the end of 2025.

On a day-to-day basis the Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation and validation of a state-of-the-art embedded positioning and navigation software with GNSS and navigation sensors to deliver RTK positions. Other duties will include: writing navigation code for the receivers and lead the development of next generation Navigation Engine to compute position, velocity, and orientation of the GNSS receiver using satellite ranges coupled with additional sensors such as Inertial Measurement Units (IMU), magnetometers, speed sensors, lasers, cameras and odometers. They will also be expected to ensure the flexibility, modularity and efficiency of the object-oriented software implementation starting from Matlab and/or C++ prototypes and ensure electrical designs meet EMC compliance requirements.

This position requires to be on site 4-5 days a week, the ability to travel 2-3 times a year to summits and an active US passport.

Skills and Requirements

Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent, with 5 years' experience in GNSS & RTK firmware development

Excellent programming skills in C and C++, with a thorough understanding of modern C++ and the standard library

Understand complicated GNSS, INS and navigation algorithms, their implementation in software, and their optimization for efficient operation

Excellent understanding of software development life cycles and use of related tools (issue tracking, git, Jenkins or GitLab, design documentation, etc.)

Excellent understanding of embedded software engineering (memory management, linking process, firmware startup, Realtime OS). power supply design for GNSS receivers
