    WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Vice President , Wastewater Market Sector Leader for our West Region, based in the Pacific Mountain West District. This position will be based out of our Seattle, WA office . WSP USA Operates with a Hybrid-Workplace Model. Be involved in projects with our West Region and Pacific Mountain West Water Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

    Your primary role will be to provide strategic vision for our wastewater market, identify and lead business development initiatives and pursuits, lead projects, mentor staff, and make key decisions that will drive future ready infrastructure solutions for our largest water clients on our most complex projects. You will collaborate with our dedicated, local design teams, while being supported by our international expertise. You'll work with water, geotechnical, tunneling and transportation engineers, and environmental and permitting experts. You excel at building relationships with our clients, becoming their trusted partner.

    Your Impact

    • Provide proactive and strategic vision and leadership for our wastewater market sector, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure our goals are achieved within the business sector and we foster a culture of helpfulness and client excellence.

    • Develop and cultivate clients. Identify and lead business development activities and pursuits.

    • Participate in the strategic planning and budgeting process, in partnership with the water business line leader and our national business line leader.

    • Recruit and retain industry leading professional staff.

    • Lead strategic projects, both internally and externally, that enhance our business and team.

    • Lead larger-scale more complex engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.

    • Actively foster compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.

    • Ensure that engineering discipline certifications, accreditations, and value proposition is developed and continuously improved.

    • Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics - and accountable for planning, development and management of projects in compliance with all applicable City/State/federal codes and regulations, and in accordance with all acceptable engineering practices.

    • Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents that result in sound engineering, engineering, and regulatory conclusions.

    • Provide verbal and/or written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.

    • Develop a client base for providing high level water resources engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.

    • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.

    • Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.

    • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.

    • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

    Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • 12+ years of professional experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water/Wastewater or closely related discipline.

    • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.

    • Understanding of the wastewater market, with particular understanding and focus on the northwest wastewater market, including industry trends, drivers, and clients

    • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and enforcement actions

    • Proficient in project management methodologies, tools and software to effectivity plan, execute and monitor complex projects while staying on budget and schedule.

    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and foster collaboration among stakeholders, subcontractors and team members.

    • Proficient knowledge of water/wastewater engineering principles, practices, process, design, build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.

    • Well-defined knowledge of treatment and/or conveyance systems planning, design, engineering, cost estimating, and project management.

    • Proficient ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

    • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

    • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

    • Work independently with minimal oversight and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

    • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data, arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

    • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Engineering.
