    To support ICF's dynamic growth and expanding client base, we are seeking a Senior Environmental Exposure Scientist to work in our Health Science Practice. This group of 130+ science professionals provide toxicology, hazard assessment, epidemiology, risk assessment, exposure assessment, environmental modeling, and related support that addresses the full spectrum of potentially hazardous agents, including chemicals and microbes. We specialize in identifying, quantifying, and documenting the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment.

    The Senior Environmental Exposure Scientist's project work will support federal agencies (such as U.S. EPA and NIEHS), state agencies, and private sector clients in developing reports that assess the human health impacts of pollutants. Specific activities will include quantitative analysis, qualitative systematic review activities, and project management. The Senior Environmental Exposure Scientist will contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff; they have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, and interact with experts and clients in the field, while building content knowledge and consulting skills.

    The position is remote; hybrid positions are available in Reston, VA or Durham, NC.

    As a Senior Environmental Exposure Scientist, you will:

    • Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of exposure assessment, including exposure model selection, exposure model inputs, exposure model implementation and evaluations, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and overall synthesis.

    • Provide support for systematic literature reviews of exposure articles, including helping to develop the PECO statement, performing title/abstract and full text screening, evaluating the quality of studies, extracting information from studies, and providing quality control support across the review.

    • Synthesize findings into written reports and scientific articles.

    • Provide project management for projects involving quantitative analyses, qualitative evaluations, and systematic literature reviews. Manage the day-to-day work associated with projects, including staffing, scheduling, communication, technical guidance, and quality assurance.

    • Mentor early-career exposure scientists.

    • Contribute to proposal and business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities and helping to shape our exposure science business.

    As a Senior Environmental Exposure Scientist, we would love for you to have:

    • Experience with quantitative and qualitative environmental exposure analysis.

    • Experience with systematic review is strongly preferred.

    • Experience as a task or project manager.

    • Proactive and problem-solving approach to challenges.

    • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute technical approaches to solving scientific questions.

    • Strong quantitative skills.

    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    • Experience with government programs (preferably U.S. EPA or NIEHS).

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related subject with 3+ years of experience, or equivalent education plus work experience.

    Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

    $76,848.00 - $130,642.00
