  • Description We are looking for a diligent Purchaser to join our team in the Food & Food Processing industry. Based in Sioux City, Iowa, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of purchasing duties, managing inventory, negotiating purchase orders, and maintaining supplier relationships. This role requires a deep understanding of purchasing management and manufacturing processes.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of the purchasing team, setting goals and objectives in line with our long-term strategy.

    • Implement inventory management principles, processes, and systems to ensure the accuracy of both stock and non-stock inventory in compliance with food safety regulations.

    • Negotiate and execute purchase orders and/or vendor contracts as necessary to support critical business needs.

    • Utilize competitive bidding to achieve the best overall value.

    • Collaborate with plant functional areas and purchasing team to identify synergies and document cost savings opportunities.

    • Monitor supplier performance, quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, and material shortage elimination.

    • Develop and direct a robust supplier management program to qualify suppliers, maximize competition for goods and services, prepare backup suppliers to minimize risk, and reduce overall lead time.

    • Ensure compliance with policies, processes, and procedures, updating as required.

    • Foster an environment of continuous process improvement to drive efficiency, increase accuracy, and promote sound decision-making.

    • Assist with budget preparation, capital plans, and reports.

    • Lead staff training and development.

    • Conduct business with vendors in a professional manner to ensure the integrity of the Company and its employees. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Purchaser role within the Food & Food Processing industry

    • Proven skills in Corporate Procurement and Purchasing Management

    • Experience in a Manufacturing environment is desirable

    • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills

    • Ability to analyze market trends and apply insights to procurement strategies

    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

    • Proficiency in relevant software applications and platforms

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred

    • Adherence to ethical procurement practices.
