  • The UVA Health Program Management Office

    • Coordinates the execution of the most significant and critical projects for UVA Health that directly impact the Medical Center, UPG, Community Health, Health System Support Services, School of Nursing, and School of Medicine.

    • Tracks and reports on the progress of a portfolio of enterprise programs to UVA Health's Chief Quality and Performance Improvement Officer (CQPI).

    • Ensures that the UVA Health projects are delivered in scope, within budget, and in keeping with the priorities set by the UVA Health Cabinet.

    The UVA Health Program Management Office is seeking a Project Manager to join the Program Management Office. The Project Manager is the primary individual responsible for successfully delivering project objectives. These objectives are accomplished using proven project management methods to overcome cost, scope, and time constraints while ensuring quality. Serves as a liaison between the project management team and executive stakeholders. Day-to-day activities involve project intake, resourcing, writing project charters, defining project scope, identifying potential risks, resolving critical problems, and writing project status reports.

    Project Management:

    • Manage one or more high-profile/high-impact projects of medium to high-level complexity.

    • Effectively manage stakeholder and project team expectations by recognizing, communicating, mitigating issues, and recommending appropriate corrective actions professionally using the proper escalation path.

    • Direct and monitor activities of cross-functional project personnel, identifying resource needs, performing the quality review, and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within budget.

    • Create and manage project documentation, including project charter, scope, objectives, estimation worksheet, schedule, milestones, assignment of project personnel, risk/actions/issue/decision logs, action items, etc.

    • Interact with senior management to manage and monitor project portfolio including, but not limited to, review of project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.

    • Facilitate project team meetings and oversee the creation of a project communications plan to provide updates regarding the impact of project activities on project stakeholders.

    • Provide bi-monthly reports, at minimum, to senior management regarding project status, including impacts to cost, scope, time, and quality, as well as impact on personnel and other resources. Call attention to potential problems as they arise and recommend the appropriate corrective actions.

    • Monitor, measure, and report on the productivity and performance of projects and interrelated work streams.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Establish and implement project management tools and methods to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high-quality standards, and meet assigned expectations.

    • Bring Continuous Improvement tools, methods, training, and coaching to the organization to support our drive toward operational excellence.

    • Ensure methods to mitigate project risks are evaluated and developed into contingency plans.

    • Train and mentor project sponsors, process owners, and project teams in project management concepts while developing staff competency in support of the project management standards.

    This position will be for a 1-year limited term.

    Position Compensation Range: $74,900.80 - $119,849.60 Annual

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

    Experience: 3-5 years project management experience. Healthcare industry experience; including information technology, clinical engineering, or laboratory preferred.

    Licensure: PMP or similar project management certification preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull <= 20lbs and freely travel and climb stairs.
