    Position Overview:

    Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock is adding a Passenger Coach 3rd Shift Production Supervisor to our growing team. In this exciting role your primary responsibility will be to drive the Coach Weld & Assembly teams in continuous improvement of budget, safety, and schedule adherence through the use of lean manufacturing principles both on the Coach production floor and during the production planning phases.

    You will lead our diverse and high performing teams in technical problem solving for topics including standard and non-standard work, tooling, material flow, safety, engineering drawings and BOMs, and process improvements.

    What your day will look like:

    • Plan production operations, define workflow, and establish priorities and production sequences to meet project and interdepartmental requirements.

    • Meet project targets for safety, quality, schedule, and direct labor hours.

    • Establish, monitor, and adjust manpower (includes hiring and promoting), applicable equipment planning and work-order sequencing to meet production demands.

    • Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviews including planning, monitoring, and documenting the training & development of manufacturing employees.

    • Ensure production vehicles are ready for in process inspections from internal and external customer inspectors in the Final Detail Production area in preparation for shipping vehicles.

    • Minimize defect write ups and findings through the systematic elimination of root causes while driving solutions to be implemented in the upstream processes and readiness for vehicles to ship.

    • Reviewing engineering drawings, 3D engineering models using Pro-E or PTC Creo to gain an understanding of manufacturing process requirements such as job sequence, workflow, and takt time.

    • Generating and Improving Material Flow Paths and Logistical needs for each Production Work Order both in an MRP system and on the production floor (Material Handling).

    • Preparing future production floor layouts to meet planned takt time and schedule.

    • Setting up stations with proper fixtures, templates (drilling, small components, mounting), tooling, and equipment.

    • Leading manufacturing improvements, complex process changes, and technology changes.

    • Providing critical process control guidance to production, maintenance, and quality control to improve the dimensional accuracy and overall quality of our products.

    • Coordinating and communicating technical information to and from all levels of the organization including vendors, project managers, production team members, and operations managers.

    • Identify the root cause of defects then implement measures & initiatives for defect reduction.

    • Collaborate with other supervisors to plan and execute production of coaches, and continuously adjust plans as necessary to achieve targets for production quality, schedule and productivity.

    • Track and manage production performance. Identify constraints then develop and implement effective countermeasures.

    • Manage, coach and develop a team of up to 60 workers.

    • Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviews. Plan, monitor and document the training & development of manufacturing employees.

    • Coordinate with support functions (Quality, Engineering, Scheduling, Procurement) and internal customers to ensure the entire team is aligned & working together to solve problems and meet commitments.

    • Complete other duties and responsibilities as required.

    What you will need to be successful:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field

    • Required: 5 years managing industrial operations, Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes including mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, welding, crane lifting, material handling

    • 3 years' experience in OEM capital equipment assembly operations, in a schedule driven, moderate volume and product mix, engineer to order, project environment.

    We would be impressed if you had:

    • Experience in Siemens Production Systems or equivalent Lean manufacturing.

    • Work experience in the rail business, preferably in light rail, heavy rail, or related production, is needed.,

    • One or more certification (or equivalent coursework) in the following fields- Six Sigma Black Belt, lean Certification, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing engineer, Supply Management, EIT, or Professional Engineer License

    • Relevant experience utilizing and implementing lean methods and tools such as 5s, 7 Types of Waste (Muda), root cause analysis and corrective actions, Yamazumi Methods, Kanban value stream Mapping / Process Flow Diagrams, ABC-XYZ Analysis, and Lean Shop Floor Management Model.

    • Practical experience training others on Lean topics, facilitating lean improvement activities, Kaizen, Root Cause-Corrective Actions, 5s events, etc. Ability to promote Lean in Production, Lean in Quality, and Lean in the Office.

    The base salary for this position is $96,800- $130,700 , based on experience, expertise, education and certification. The salary may be higher or lower depending on your experience and skills.
