    SCOPE OF POSITION:

    The Pricing Manager role requires a blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking and effective communication to drive the overall pricing process, decisions and documentation that support Construction Specialties growth and profitability. The role is responsible for determining the appropriate market pricing structure and value for our product offering and adjacent services by analyzing the market trends and performing data and statistical analysis. Specifically, the Pricing Manager establishes the pricing policies, adhering to the business governance and relevant government regulations. In concert with the business leaders, the Pricing Manager proactively drives finished & configured product pricing strategies from a market perspective and coordinates with the marketing and sales teams to inform and disseminate pricing adjustments to our customer service, estimating teams & sales representatives. The pricing manager works closely with the costing specialists and the product category managers (BU leaders) to ensure appropriate margins are realized against the established market price. Product managers work with the pricing manager to communicate and deliver accurate and timely price lists, territorial & key customer discount structures & rebate programs as needed. Custom project sales are driven by the fundamentals of the pricing structure set by the pricing manager but negotiated by sales & the BU's according to the project opportunity and potential mix-margin benefits a specific project is to deliver. The position requires excellent analytical skill, business acumen, communication skills, judgement and a propensity to understand the complex sale of commercial building products in the market.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement pricing strategies & reliable processes to maximize profitability and achieve revenue targets.

    • Conduct market research and analysis to justify pricing against industry trends, customer behavior and competitive positioning.

    • Define and execute a pricing improvement roadmap.

    • In partnership with the VP of Strategic Sourcing, follow and act upon larger economic and supply chain trends regarding raw materials and finishes that affect product pricing.

    • Collaborate with Product Managers, Sales & BU management to develop pricing models for new products, programs and continuous product line rationalization.

    • Help define selling approaches and best practices to optimize mix-margin for multi-product sales and complex product configurations.

    • Develop an offensive pricing strategy that provides competitive advantages and predicts/monitors competitor behaviors that results in minimal defensive pricing actions.

    • Assists in the development of key account pricing; consults with sales and business development leaders to create successful pricing proposals for strategic customers.

    • Monitors and evaluates pricing reports providing insight to senior management.

    • Accountabilities:

    • This position provides and requires a broad exposure to our various business, product, marketing, operational, financial and technical teams as well as the ability to integrate with our IT team and the associated enterprise system.

    • Reports to VP NPD & Marketing and works closely with market Research Manager to gain business and building product specific knowledge.

    • Works in concert with the BU and the business development team to ensure alignment with the product category growth strategy & necessary price exceptions to help close strategic projects and support key account pricing.

    • Works with the product management team for new product introductions, line rationalization as it pertains to product family price/value relationships and the delivery of accurate & timely customer specific price lists.

    • Assists sales management with resolution to the pricing dynamics of commissioned vs. direct sales representatives, national & key account customers, transactional sales pricing vs. project negotiated pricing, GPO's, contractor and general contractor pricing, etc..

    • Aligns with the operation's cost analysts to monitor and correct for necessary margins, supply chain dynamics and price exceptions.

    • Ability to influence the Business Unit Directors and the Senior Leadership Team while supporting the tactical needs of the selling process.

    • Assesses and refines pricing processes and methodologies to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

    • Bachelor's degree minimum with Master's / MBA preferred.

    • 5 years of product management and / or complex product line pricing experience

    • Demonstration of business acumen & analytical skills - results oriented, strategic thinking.

    • Experience working with multi-functional teams, executives and business leaders to drive timely decisions, profitability and product line logic improvements.

    • Formal project management & process improvement training (SixSigma, TQM, Lean, etc.)

    • Building products industry knowledge or related

    • Relevant pricing related certifications (CPP, financial, etc.)
