    Job Summary: FD Thomas is seeking a Payroll Specialist for our Corporate Office. This person will be responsible for performing a variety of payroll administrative tasks to support the team and ensure the smooth operation of our payroll department in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Verify timekeeping records, attendance and leave balances to calculate hours worked and resolve discrepancies

    • Process weekly, high-volume payroll for office and field staff and schedule distribution of checks and direct deposit

    • Handle employee payroll concerns with excellent customer service and professionalism

    • Process New Hires and Separations

    • Reconcile, report, and pay child support payments through an online account

    • Review, maintain, and update employee SUI tax state within the employee record

    • Assist in the preparation and processing of federal, state, and local tax deposits and reports

    • Reconcile, maintain, and update employee PTO balances between systems to ensure accuracy of available time off balances

    • Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies or issues to ensure timely and accurate resolution

    • Various tasks assigned by the Payroll Manager

    Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:

    • 2+ year Payroll experience with a solid understanding of payroll processes and tax regulations

    • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; Attention to detail to ensure precise payroll calculations

    • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism

    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees and coworkers to promote a quality service image

    • Complete tasks quickly and efficiently with the highest level of quality and attention to detail

    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively, flexibly, and responsively while working with competing priorities and deadlines

    • Experience with Multi-State Payroll

    • Ability to provide a high level of accuracy

    • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize workload

    • Problem solving and creative thinking

    • Bilingual in English/Spanish (desired)

    • Construction Industry and Union Knowledge (desired)
