    REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    RN with Associate's degree in nursing and four years of clinical experience, including two years

    as a charge nurse. Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of

    patient care activities of the department/area.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Supports and assists with the development and actualization of the department's/area's

    goals (strategic plan).

    • Coordinates and directs the department's/area's patient care operations for an assigned

    shift.

    • Competently provides care appropriate to age and specialty of the patient as defined by

    the department.

    • Manages personnel effectively, and analyzes workload and skill requirement to meet care

    needs for assigned shift.

    • Promotes and practices cost containment.

    • Practices and promotes patient/family advocacy and assists with maintenance of ethical

    procedure.

    • Practices and promotes positive peer and guest relations.

    • Participates in and promotes quality improvement and nursing research activates.

    • Functions as a leader.

    • Actively participates in and promotes the development of self and others.

    • List all essential job functions, responsibilities, activities, and tasks.

    • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

    • Work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area.

    • Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes

    cause discomfort.

    • Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required such as walking, standing and lifting

    materials, equipment, objects, and/or patients.

    • Occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs.

    • Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate enough to enable

    one to quickly and accurately perform tasks such as: reading small print, reading from

    monitoring equipment, defining details, sending and receiving clear and accurate verbal

    communication.

    • Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual,

    auditory, and sensory inputs.

    • Shift work may be required.

    • Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.

    • May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation,

    chemotherapeutic agents, and disoriented or combative patients.

    • May be required to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations deemed

    necessary by a designated Executive Director and/or Nursing Director
