    Job Title: Medical Staff Coordinator

    Danbury, CT - 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

    Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates,

    Summary:

    Responsible for the daily operations of the medical staff office including credentialing, re-credentialing, provider set-up, expirables and maintenance processes . Facilitates all functions associated with appointments and reappointments for the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals Staff. Ensures compliance with Joint Commissions standards and state regulations in regards to these processes. Interfaces with senior medical staff leaders and senior administrators. Supervises medical office staff and responds to questions regarding complex credentialing issues.

    Responsibilities:

    1.Medical Staff/Allied Health Professional Staff Credentials Requirements Criteria

    • Evaluates/analyze physician/AHP applications for Medical Staff privileges Medical Staff/Allied Health Professional Staff Credentials Requirements Criteria.

    • Knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, State Regulations and Joint Commissions standards in order to appropriately assess the completeness of applications Medical Staff/Allied Health Professional Staff Credentials Requirements Criteria.

    • Knowledge of education, license, board certification, professional work history in order to compile credentialing information for presentation to committees and department chairs Medical Staff/Allied Health Professional Staff Credentials Requirements Criteria.

    • Knowledge of the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank/National Practitioner Data Bank HIPDB/NPDB to determine the competence of physicians and allied health professionals applying for privileges.

    • Biennial Reappointment/Reappraisal Medical Staff/AHP Staff Criteria

    • Organize, distribute, and process reappointment forms in line with existing policies.

    • Evaluate data and ensure all regulations and standards are achieved Biennial Reappointment/Reappraisal Medical Staff/AHP Staff Criteria.

    • Evaluate data for completeness, interpret deficiencies to appropriate chairperson.

    • Present and explain data to Credentials Committee, Executive Committee, Board of Trustees.

    3.Organizes Committee/Medical Staff Meetings Criteria

    • Organizes all information for monthly/quarterly staff meetings Organizes Committee/Medical Staff Meetings Criteria.

    • Provides information for investigative hearings Organizes Committee/Medical Staff Meetings Criteria.

    • Attend and transcribe minutes Organizes Committee/Medical Staff Meetings Criteria.

    • Maintains Medical Staff treasury reports for reporting to the Medical Staff at Quarterly Staff Meetings.

    • Chief of Staff/President CEO Criteria

    • Supports Chief of Staff by preparing information for meetings and seminars.

    • Act as primary contact for Fairfield County Medical Society when coordinating continuing medical education classes for the medical staff.

    • Communicates policies and information to the medical staff.

    • Call Center Support Criteria

    • Support call center in the maintenance of physician and provider data to ensure all medical staff and allied health professionals are represented properly in medical staff directories for referral purposes.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

    Other information

    Required : A minimum of 2 years experience in a Medical Staff Office or credentialing/healthcare environment required.

    Desired: Knowledge of Medical Terminology and credentialing practices in a hospital or other healthcare environment. Must be familiar with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Credentials Polices. Certification as Certified Provider Credentials Specialist (CPCS) or certified as Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) is desired. Excellent organizational skills, work independently, on a variety of tasks. Supervise employee(s). Maintain minutes of all medical executive committees, credentials committee and medical staff meetings.
