DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work on a collaborative team developing Axiom's Air Revitalization Assembly (ARA) for low Earth orbit and beyond
Collaborate to develop and manage requirements for ARA hardware
Select components with appropriate sizing for flow and pressure requirements, as well as material compatibility
Design and develop test rigs for testing ARA hardware
Plan and perform testing of ARA components and integrated assemblies
Create models, test plans, and procedures for verification and validation to ensure designs satisfy requirements and demonstrate performance
Perform trade studies for technology development
Analyze fluid system performance and make recommendations for improvement

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
5+ years of experience with designing mechanical and/or fluid systems
Proficiency in CAD and modeling (Solidworks preferred)
Experience with flight hardware design, testing, and certification
Solid understanding and ability to apply of GD&T to drive efficient manufacturing practices
Able to assess the structural integrity and failure modes of mechanical systems and components
Familiarity with space design standards and regulations
Knowledge of various manufacturing processes
Hands on experience with manufacturing and assembly
Ownership or responsibility with a mechanical design from start to finish
(Preferred) Experience with challenge teams of university undergrad and grad students to conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and compete with small formula-style vehicles (FSAE)
(Preferred) Experience with finite element analysis software
Essential Functions
Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
