  • Responsible for the implementation of company-wide safety management systems, safety programs and policies directed at monitoring and improving safety performance and compliance consistent with Company objectives and government regulations.

    This is a predominantly field based role. Candidates must be comfortable in a field environment.

    Role and Scope of Position:

    • Responsible for the implementation of company-wide safety management system, monitoring and improving safety performance, and maintaining compliance with applicable government regulations.
    • Be a field-based partner to Gas Operations (Construction, Maintenance, Meters, Major Projects, Dispatch, Planning & Scheduling, etc.), identify and mitigate occupational safety and health hazards, continuously improve safety systems, and foster a Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) management philosophy.
    • Build collaborative and trusting relationships with management and unions that to facilitate the continuous improve occupational safety.
    • Manage a team of Safety Advisors and take an active role in supporting their development.
    • Benchmark and support industry occupational safety projects.
    • Be an active participant in Emergency Response efforts.

    Essential Functions:

    • Ensure procedures, instructions, trainings, systems, field work, etc. comply with occupational safety and health regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct field-based audits, inspections, observations, auditing to confirm alignment with applicable company and regulatory requirements.
    • Facilitate opportunities for occupational safety and health continuous improvement.
    • Lead by example, educate, and partners with others on Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) management philosophies and tools.
    • Learn from incidents, identify contributing causes, implement improvement plans, and validate to achieve sustainable prevention controls.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
    • Provide feedback and information to assigned organizations regarding safety performance and partner with them on continuous improvement efforts.
    • Create partnerships and work closely with management and unions to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all.

    Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

    • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Knowledge of safety management systems, culture change practices, and human & organizational performance.
    • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, presentation, computer, and project management skills.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Applied Sciences or related discipline or equivalent experience.

    Experience

    • Ten years of related experience, preferably in the energy sector or comparable industry.

    Licenses & Certifications:

    • CSP, ASP, CIH / CAIH or equivalent preferred

    This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $138,230.00 to $153,590.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
