    MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEAD - DINING

    POSITION PURPOSE Lead trade staff and perform maintenance, refurbishment, and repair of UW Dining and HFS Residential Facilities.

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES * Schedule and direct the work of trades staff. * Process and manage work orders using computerized work management system. * Order, track, record and maintain inventory for parts. * Develop and maintain accurate records of equipment and other operational components. * Perform maintenance and repair of equipment including troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing plumbing and mechanical components, electrical and other appliances, remodeling, and renovation. * Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and other building components. * Diagnose, repair, and maintain components of food service equipment including but not limited to commercial dish machines, drink stations, and commercial ice machines, pot washers, conveyor belts, walk-in refrigeration and freezer units, commercial ovens, warmers, toasters, grills, and fryers etc. * Process customer requests, initiate and assign work orders to Maintenance Mechanics, and Machinery Mechanics etc. * Review work performed and direct staff on making any necessary corrections. * Collaborate with Facilities Managers, Maintenance Team Supervisor, Custodial Supervisor and in scheduling units for preventative maintenance, repairs, or installs. * Coordinate with UW Campus Facilities Services and contractors/vendors. * Respond to emergencies in kitchen and dining facilities during scheduled hours. * Assist in determining proper types and quantities of parts, supplies, materials, and tools needed to complete all assigned tasks and assignments. * Repair and maintain all tools and equipment in the proper fashion including personally assigned tools, departmental tools. * Perform the work of Maintenance Mechanic 2, and other skilled trades. * Attend and engage in training sessions. * Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One years full-time experience as a Maintenance Mechanic II, journey-level trades worker, or equivalent. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience working in commercial dining, food, and hospitality. * Experience performing maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment * Experience working directly with customers or clients. * Commercial Food Equipment Service Association trainings or certification. * Experience working in a multi-tenant residential or university environment. * Experience working with diverse populations. * Demonstrated commitment to values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT * A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes. * Possession of a valid State of Washington Driver's License. (The Maintenance Mechanic Lead will need to use a university vehicle to transport equipment and supplies to locations on the Seattle campus.)

    WORKING CONDITIONS * This position will work 4 10-hour shifts, Monday - Thursday, starting at 7:30AM. Shift may change based on operational needs throughout the academic year.

    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT * Opportunity for subsidized and ongoing technical training on commercial kitchen equipment.
