  • Job Purpose :

    1. Operate machine to prepare quality rolls of film to specification.

    2. Work with efficiency and compliance, following safety rules and regulations for self and coworkers.

    3. Assure compliance with company and industry rules, general orders, and instructions.

    Essential Job Functions :

    1. Operate machinery to extrude, stretch, rewind, inspect, trim, treat, test (peel test), laminate, reprocess and finish product

    2. Prepare samples from finished stock for special operations

    3. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

    4. Handle film material and necessary hand tools

    5. May operate hand and lift trucks.

    6. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment.

    Job Requirements :

    Read and understand work instructions, work orders, labels, posted bulletins, rulebooks, regulations, procedures, safety signs

    Enter pertinent information from equipment to appropriate tracking methods and roll tags on machine log

    Follow instructions on Roll Evaluation Sheet, work orders and instructions

    Record data on forms

    Record all pertinent information on roll label into the computer

    Set conditions on machine

    Adjust all controls for operating

    Complete machine log and rollcard

    Effective communication with leadman/supervisor and coworkers

    1. Numerical Skills

    Ability to perform addition and subtraction up to four decimal points.

    Figure and plot basis weights

    Calculate and enter roll data on appropriate form

    Weigh stretch roll

    Set bars, trimmers, and winder area for correct set-up

    Use and read a tape measure

    1. Technical Competencies

    Must be able to measure, record and react to product dimensions and specifications.

    Must be able to learn to operate machine monitors, controls, electrical hoist, and have computer keyboard literacy.

    Properly use the following tools: measuring tape, knife, airline, wrenches.

    Start up machine according to work instructions, monitor and adjust machine for operating speed and conditions, operate flow of

    material for machine, adjustment to assure conformance to specifications, identify resins.

    Must be able to learn to operate compactor and baler.

    Must be able to learn to operate reprocess machine and recovery systems

    1. Teamwork

    Must be able to work in a team based work environment that encourages candid feedback and collaboration. Must also demonstrate cooperating and supporting others by offering help when needed and maintaining positive work relationships with co-workers and maintain an attitude and philosophy consistent with organizational goals and objectives.

    1. Problem solving skills (trouble shooting)

    Ability to deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

    See that equipment is brought on-stream with the least possible amount of delay during start-ups, condition checks, film breaks, item changes, shift changes, etc.

    Take proper measures and precautions during power failure

    Must be able to anticipate, evaluate, and consider the consequences of various actions.

    Troubleshoot the equipment and recommend any maintenance, and/or engineering work to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.

    1. Vision and hearing

    Must be able to read digital screens and meters, monitor equipment, and follow through with rewind process. Must have color distinction and depth perception necessary to determine quality and consistency of film and necessary for film scraping while wearing eye and hearing protection. Recognize sounds of moving equipment and machinery for safety purposes. Work with constant noise at a level requiring the use of earplugs.

    1. Demonstrate good job attendance and punctuality

    2. Attend required training and other mandatory meetings

    3. Must report all injuries and incidents occurring at work immediately, in addition, unsafe conditions and actions should be reported to the appropriate person at the time of observation.

    4. Must operate overhead hoists.

    5. Cooperate during internal investigation of situations that you have knowledge.

    6. Perform Physical Activities

    While performing the duties of the job the associate is regularly required to stand. The associate is required to use hand to finger, feel objects, tools or controls and climb and balance. The associate is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. More detailed information on frequency is below.

    Must be able to exert muscular strength sufficient to occasionally push/pull 125 lbs.; lift/carry 27 - 137 lbs to a maximum height of 5 ½ feet; reach 27 inches; remain sitting standing/standing/ walking constantly with the opportunity to change positions; frequently climb stairs to monitor film production; cut cores using core cutter; mount rolls to be to be rewound; thread the peel tester with test film occasionally crawl and balance; wear solvent resistant gloves; demonstrate good bilateral eye/hand/foot coordination and dexterity; operate the shaft pressure gauge during film rewinding process.

    Must be 18 years or older.

    Must have high school diploma or GED.

    Must be authorized to work in the United States.

    Must be able to meet the physical requirements stated above.

    Work Conditions :

    1. Physical environment

    Work is constantly performed in-doors and outdoors on concrete or asphalt floors involving extreme temperatures, safety shoes are required; work is under noise level requiring the use of earplugs; use Dyne-Test Pen (which should not be used if pregnant).

    1. Job schedule environment

    Must be willing to work 12-hour rotating work shifts.

    1. Safety environment.

    Must be willing to perform job functions following set safety procedures.
