Loss of Coolant Accident Engineer

System One is looking to contract with a part-time Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) Engineer for one of our clients in Virginia. This is a remote 6-12 month position, with a competitive salary.

To qualify for this position, you need to have:

• A Bachelors degree in Engineering

• At least 5 years of Engineering experience,

• LOCA experience

• Proficiency with LINUX environments

• Experience with computer programming and scripting in FORTRAN, PYTHON, C++

• Experience using nuclear fuel performance codes and understanding of fuel behavior under accident conditions

• Experience using RELAP or similar code to simulate reactor systems behavior during postulated accidents.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing new small break and large break loss-of-coolant accident analyses for Westinghouse and Combustion Engineering designed Pressurized Water Reactors

• Evaluating and documenting the impact of plant and core design

• Changes on existing LOCA analyses

• Knowledge of LOCA (required)

• The ability to work independently and efficiently

• The skill to communicate your leadership potential

• Possess leadership qualities to facilitate cross team and

• interdepartmental technical deliverables
