    UPMC College Avenue Family Medicine is looking to add a Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN to their clinical team. This office is a residency rotation office. We have family practice, internal medicine, and a variety of other clinics to support our patient population. The primary need for this position is triage for patient calls; taking patient calls, triaging patient symptoms, and answering in basket messages.

    Hours: Monday-Friday primarily 8am-4:30pm but negotiable hours between 7:30am-5:30pm. Orientation/initial training may require you to travel to another office location, but mileage would be reimbursed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Primary need for this position is triage for patient calls; Taking patient calls, triaging patient symptoms, and answering in basket messages.

    • Coordinating patient care with providers in the office.

    • Rooming patients as needed.

    • Nurse visits to draw blood, injections, and patient education.

    • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

    • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.

    • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.

    • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.

    • Comply with all policies and procedures.

    • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.

    • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.

    • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.

    • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

    • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

    • One-year clinical experience preferred, but not a requirement.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    • Act 33 with renewal

    • Act 34 with renewal

    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
