    Purpose and Scope:

    In leading the Corporate & Portfolio Strategy Team, lead the development of the enterprise strategy and regular updates. Lead projects and support Top Management in developing, delivering, communicating, and translating into action the Corporate Strategic Plan. Lead key strategic projects across all parts of the value chain, portfolio strategy development and the translation of the portfolio strategy into mature state capabilities and resource allocation.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Lead the creation of the Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP), translating Top Management direction and cross-functional input into a coherent and clear direction for the whole company.

    • Lead development of Portfolio Strategy and its rational evolution to maximize patient VALUE and enterprise value over the short-, mid- and long-term.

    • Lead content development for communication of the CSP internally and externally (e.g. to investors)

    • Collaborate with Finance, HR, and other key functions to lead process to ensure that the CSP (PGs,SGs,OHGs) is effectively translated into objectives, plans and delivery by Divisions and cross-functional teams.

    • Lead the efforts to achieve the Organizational Health Goals, including projects tackling the barriers to great execution and energizing the whole organization to remove these barriers

    • Lead or support critical cross-functional strategy projects with global impact. Provide strategic counsel on critical matters.

    • Line manage CS team members, providing feedback, coaching, and developmental support.

    Qualifications:

    Required

    • Doctoral or Master's Degree in scientific discipline.

    • 3+ years in strategy development roles, ideally having influence on R&D portfolio-level decisions.

    • 10+ years experience in pharma and with breadth of experience across the value chain being preferred over deep expertise in one field.

    Preferred

    • Experience working in the context of a complex and highly matrix global organization, in a multi-cultural environment and leading through influence

    • Fundamental scientific and business knowledge to evaluate the portfolio and incorporate the results into strategy development

    • Strong collaborative skills - able to work cross-functionally and understand the needs and perspectives of Research Functions, Development, T&M, Commercial divisions and Corporate functions

    • Demonstrate ability to build strategic alignment across the organization through providing a credible and robust strategic perspective regarding the total portfolio and major constituent parts.

    • Comfortable with ambiguity, able to recognize complex situations and use multiple formal and informal methods to find solutions, including the ability to make independent assessments and decisions.

    • Ability to present effectively and debate complex issues with higher-level management.

    • Strong critical thinking skills, creativity and curiosity to be able to generate new ideas

    • Must be willing to travel as/when required.
