    A Distribution Engineer is needed for a utility in the Southern Washington DC metro area (near Waldorf MD). The Distribution Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the electric system. Your responsibilities will involve providing analysis, recommendations, and support for distribution engineering projects while coordinating with various departments to maintain high standards of service.

    The ideal candidate for this role should hold a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university, accompanied by a minimum of 1+ year of progressive experience in engineering, construction, or operations within an electric utility or equivalent firm. This is a direct-hire role, and relocation is budgeted for qualified candidates.

    responsibilities

    • Utilize software models to simulate system performance and validate capital improvement projects

    • Identify and recommend corrective actions for potential electric system deficiencies to maintain power quality and reliability

    • Coordinate approved engineering practices for electric service design layouts, ensuring compliance with customer-member deliverable dates

    • Prepare and verify protection settings for the electric distribution system to minimize customer outages and enhance reliability

    • Evaluate and implement engineering and construction practices, enforce standards, and interact with stakeholders regarding construction materials and practices

    • Investigate and address power quality disturbances and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions as necessary
