  • The Production Planning job family is responsible for planning, scheduling, and organizing the efficient maintenance, operation and performance of work assignments. Coordinates with various departments to achieve optimum utilization of operations and maintenance resources to effectively achieve production improvements through usage of industry standard methodologies.

    Support for the development and implementation of DOE O 433.1, Maintenance Management Program for DOE Nuclear Facilities, compliant maintenance management program. This includes development of policies and procedures to fully implement the order requirements, as well as overseeing and managing their implementation at the WTP nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. (Technical Point of Contact).

    This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

    • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

    • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

    • Department performance tracking and trending, including maintenance of performance metrics.

    • Oversight of department event/issue investigation and cause analysis corrective action program administration.

    • Human resources interface and primary point of contact in staffing requisitions, acting for department hiring manager.

    • Coordination of Internal Assessments.

    • Provide support to the Maintenance Work Control Manager and assume department responsibility when manager absent.

    • Understand system design and operation, including environmental, safety, and health aspects and regulatory conformance.

    • Review Project design and other documents for, maintenance and testing impacts, repair methods and providing alternative solutions.

    • Request Design Authority/Design Agency to address design issues and to execute design changes as appropriate resulting from testing, document reviews or operating/maintenance problems.

    • Support control of fieldwork in assigned areas, including integration of project activities, repairs, and equipment operations activities.

    • Remain apprised of operational status and ongoing modification activities.

    • Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments.

    • Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities.

    • Develop facility related procedures and work instructions.

    • Develop facility related training materials and support training implementation.

    • Supervise assigned personnel in the completion of complex work.

    • Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups.

    • Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective actions.

    • Ensures timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities.

    • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

    REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS

    Education/Experience:

    Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in the area of and/or a combination of startup/ operations/maintenance of nuclear or high hazard waste treatment and/or commercial nuclear facilities, demonstrated knowledge of DOE operating policies, rules and regulations, or knowledge of commercial nuclear facilities (e.g. NRC/INPO) regulations and requirements, and knowledge of industry codes and standards in the area of expertise.

    OR

    Associate Degree in Engineering/Science 12 years' experience in the area of and/or a combination of startup/ operations/maintenance of nuclear or high hazard waste treatment and/or commercial nuclear facilities, demonstrated knowledge of DOE operating policies, rules and regulations, or knowledge of commercial nuclear facilities (e.g. NRC/INPO) regulations and requirements, and knowledge of industry codes and standards in the area of expertise.

    OR

    High School Diploma or GED plus 14 years of related experience in the area expertise and/or a combination of startup/ operations/maintenance of nuclear or high hazard waste treatment and/or commercial nuclear facilities, demonstrated knowledge of DOE operating policies, rules and regulations, or knowledge of commercial nuclear facilities (e.g. NRC/INPO) regulations and requirements, and knowledge of industry codes and standards in the area of expertise.

    Preferred experience: Previous Maintenance Department Management experience in DOE nuclear facilities; 5 years' experience in a DOE facility; familiar with Amentum work control standard, and applicable DOE orders regarding maintenance and conduct of operations, DOE standards regarding the development of work instructions, and DOE guides for planning activity level work.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • May supervise assigned personnel, and includes assigning complex work, setting work priorities, and evaluating and training them.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

    Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

    This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $122,288.19- $196,265.26 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
