    About You and This Role

    As the Corrosion Engineer/Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Specialist, you provide specialized technical guidance and oversight of the risk-based inspection program for the site. You enjoy working on a team. You have a strong technical knowledge base and require minimal supervision. You will require expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline. You act as experienced SME in corrosion, metallurgy, and materials disciplines. You will support Fixed Asset Integrity team, especially in RBI sustainability, damage mechanism assessment, and corrosion rate analysis. You will engage other regional/global SMEs when work/request is beyond current expertise. Continues to identify opportunities to develop technical expertise. You will work with operating units and stakeholders troubleshoot issues and develop long-term mitigation strategies. You directly contribute to personal and process safety by ensuring a robust and sustainable mechanical integrity program.

    Responsibilities

    • Supports the site as Subject Matter Expert for Risk Based Inspections (RBI) strategies and the RBI Software, GE APM, focusing on program sustainability.

    • Provides technical expertise or inspection/repair technique-based and impact reliability, availability and maintainability of the system and/or equipment.

    • Monitors fixed equipment and piping performance through inspection & maintenance strategies and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Program, identifying and correcting negative trends. Escalates in a timely fashion to avoid EH&S or production impact.

    • Maintains the RBI work process, ensuring alignment with existing site processes.

    • Assists Risk Analyst, inspectors, and Plant Assessment Teams when scoping inspections, repairs, and setting corrosion rates.

    • Performs equipment modeling that is beyond the expectations of the Risk Analyst.

    • Coach inspectors, new corrosion engineer or maintenance engineer on appropriate Risk Based Inspection (RBI) program and practices.

    • Supports RBI implementations in Louisiana Operations.

    • Leads 10 year corrosion study revalidations.

    • Ensures that existing implementations are aligned with any changes to Dow's mechanical integrity standard.

    • Assists Turnaround front end loading with job scoping to ensure successful asset renewal and reliability improvement.

    • Works to implement other APM Mechanical Integrity Modules (Thickness Monitoring and Inspection Management) and integrate them with RBI.

    • Provides communication with TES and Operations leadership for all APM projects.

    Required Qualifications

    • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering.

    • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

    Prefer Skills

    • Prefer a Materials/Metallurgical/Corrosion Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree.

    • Prefer previous experience with risk-based inspection programs.
