    Job Purpose

    To oversee the compression molding department to meet customer expectations and to develop and keep the team safe.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Develop safety culture within the Reading Compression Molding Department where safety is a core value of all employees by using safety programs, awareness and continuous improvement.

    • Responsible for all aspects of departmental safety: JSA's, PBSA's, Safety Training/Talks, 5S, Safety Audits, and Safety Huddles.

    • Provide visible leadership during shift by personally monitoring manufacturing performance in the Compression Molding Department.

    • Lead and coordinate production problem solving to achieve product quality and schedule attainment

    • Execute daily production schedules

    • Ensure M3 operation transactions (ERP) are accurate. Train operators on M3 and bar-coding transaction(s) to ensure accuracy.

    • Coordinate emergency scheduled and preventative maintenance activities with the maintenance planner and production planner.

    • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in the Compression Molding Department in order to meet business needs.

    • Act as the communication link between department resources and plant management.

    • Manage all aspects of department personnel including hiring, documentation, team building, employee records, employee performance, and performance reviews.

    • Utilize performance improvement action methods when and where necessary to effect behavioral change per the employee handbook.

    • Work with Plant Manager to develop training systems for new and existing employees and their specific job qualifications

    • Ensure all quality standards and procedures are understood and followed.

    • Assist in continuous improvement programs (process & quality) and customer complaint resolution by developing long term corrective actions using TPEM, 5S, DMAIC and Root Cause Analysis

    Knowledge / Skills / Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred

    • 5-7 years manufacturing / supervisory experience

    • Proven decision-making skills to include problem identification, root cause analysis and resolution

    • Ability to prepare action plans to achieve results and prioritize work

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

    • Proven organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities

    • Knowledge of the plastics industry and basic understanding of industrial equipment

    • Knowledge of ERP Systems (Movex or SAP)

    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel

    • The salary range for this position is $67,570 - $84,460. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
