Community Relations Specialist

Job Summary

Assists with establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with community, business groups and government agencies. Focuses on Community Relations, Community Health or Community Involvement. Enhances KPs image in the community by assisting in the development and promotion of program and region-wide community relations programs, which demonstrate the organizations commitment to its social mission.

Essential Responsibilities

• Coordinates Regional Employee Giving Campaign. Assists with implementation of physician and employee community involvement projects and activities. Communicates issues to key staff and stakeholders. Coordinates community relations projects; produces deliverables and coordinates with other stakeholders. Assists in the development of training programs and implementing issue and project specific programs and materials including communication plans, strategies and collateral materials.

• Builds partnerships with purchasers and members. Develops and maintains relationship with community and business groups. Provides support in identifying opportunities for new partnership and programs with internal and external groups. Coordinates community relations planning efforts among Program Offices, Areas, Regional Offices and community based agencies. Assists in the coordination of events (e.g., VIP visits, health fairs, community events, Spare the Air Campaign); ensures coordination with other Areas, region and program office.

• Participates in KP philanthropic strategies to support community health and marketing objectives by soliciting, reviewing and recommending grants and donations to qualified community programs. Position may require travel throughout the Northern California region.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in community relations and/or health policy required.

Education

• Bachelors degree in public health, public relations/communications or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

• N/A

Additional Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal presentation and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent project management, organization and consulting skills.

• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in community relations and/or health policy in government sector and/ or non-profit sector preferred.
