Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., one of the nation's largest concrete contractors is searching for a Field Safety Representative. The Field Safety Representative promotes the Company's IIF culture by ensuring every co-worker returns home safely every night. Is expected to spend 100% of time in the field observing and coaching co-workers on correction of unsafe conditions and behaviors. reinforces positive behavior through recognition and/or rewards. Serves as a resource to co-workers by answering questions about safety and sharing lessons learned. Embeds self with the project team and strategically "dives in" using a hands-on approach to improve project safety, quality and productivity (SQP).
Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes the Company's IIF Culture by being a Safety Resource to the Project: Develops relationships with project co-workers to promote the IFF culture. Observes and coaches co-workers responsible for daily Mission Task Analyses (MTAs) and Tool Box Talks to ensure they are completed effectively. Identifies unsafe conditions and behaviors, and coaches the immediate correction to eliminate the condition or behavior. Communicates observations, corrective actions, incidents, etc. through participation in daily project meetings. Participates on the project SQP team. May conduct New Hire Orientation. Participates in the job transition process to help identify the safety and IIF cultural responsibilities for the project (i.e. safety clinics, safety professional to co-worker ratio, OSHA 10 site specific safety plan, etc.) and implements and maintains the safety plan. Identifies and implements recognition and reward programs to motivate co-workers to live the IIF culture.
Assists in Project Compliance with all Safety Rules and Regulations: Applies all OSHA regulations to the scope of work. Ensures all project co-workers attend IIF orientation, Leads and Keys, complete Supervisory Skills Training, OSHA 30, MTA and other required training. Develops and maintains all required project safety records such as hazard communication manuals, training, and emergency action plans. Notifies Regional or Senior Safety Manager immediately when OSAH personnel arrive on site. Conducts continual safety reviews of project site. Attends job site safety and sub-coordination meetings. When qualified, conducts co-worker safety training and certifications (where required) such as fall protection, rigging, equipment operation, confined space, and Haz-Com. Participates in the project and subcontractor safety start-up meetings. Responsible for job site postings.
Assists with or Conducts Case Management: Assists with or performs the investigations of job site incidents to identify the root cause and communicates that information to the job management. Participates in weekly incident review call and communicates incident review summary to co-workers during Tool Box Talks. Notifies corporate physician and follows proper notification procedures when incident occurs. Communicates the Company Transitional Work Program to treating physicians and clinics and explores alternative treatment options with them. Utilizes the Transitional Work Program for the injured co-worker until full release.
Work Environment: Work is a combination of office and field environments involving various types of conditions encountered on the construction site. Involves exposure to outside weather and job site conditions.

Specific qualifications for the Field Safety Representative include:
Minimum of 4 years of concrete construction experience
Experience as a Field Safety Coordinator
Must obtain OSHA 30 hour certification within three months
Working knowledge of common regulations for concrete construction industry
Willingness to work with others and be part of a team
Ability to work with field co-workers to develop safe means and methods of accomplishing the task
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability and/or willingness to work with tools to correct unsafe conditions
Must have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 20 pounds
Ability to maneuver in and out of job site trailers and various stages of job site terrains
