    WSP is currently initiating a search for a Highway/Roadway Engineer for our Austin office. This position is best suited for an engineer who is seeking an opportunity to work within a team-focused local office, for a large world-wide engineering firm.     Your Impact

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform civil/highway design tasks requiring independent judgment regarding standard design and engineering techniques and procedures for roadway projects

    • Perform design tasks and prepare calculations on highway projects from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design

    • Coordinate with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, storm water, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way

    • Prepare roadway plans from conceptual to preliminary schematic and final PS&E design for roadway and traffic control disciplines

    • Ensure that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements

    • Ability to work on small projects or portions of larger projects in a team-oriented environment

    • Prepare quantity take-offs and construction cost estimating

    • Other duties assigned

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

    • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior civil design experience.

    • Engineer in Training Certification.

    • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

    • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design.

    • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

    • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

    • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in Engineering.

    • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.

    • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.

    • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
